Winning the Periscope Pitch: A Milestone for Well Lit Woods

Winning the Pitch Perfect award at the Periscope Pitch Showcase recently was one of those surreal, core-memory moments for me. Standing on stage alongside some of Nashville’s most talented makers was an honor in itself, but walking away with the top spot felt like a massive validation of everything I’ve been quietly building. When you spend months surrounded by sawdust, laser smoke, and broken prototypes, you wonder if the crazy ideas in your head will actually resonate with real people. Winning this pitch proved that they do, and I can’t thank the judges, mentors, friends, and local community enough for cheering me on (shout-out to my mother).
This win is a huge milestone because it validates the core mission behind Well Lit Woods: bringing a sense of soul, warmth, and nature-inspired geometry into the physical spaces where we live our lives. Every space we occupy has an effect on us, and lighting is the single most powerful tool we have to shift how a space actually feels. This award is officially kicking off a big new chapter for my studio, from fresh indoor lamp collections to expanding into larger civic concepts across Middle Tennessee.
